Maria Montessori

Maria Montessori (1870 – 1952) was an Italian educator and physician who developed the Montessori Method of teaching.

It has been tested for eighty years and has achieved success throughout the world. It stresses the development of initiative and self-reliance in children to work by themselves in areas of their interest, but within strictly disciplined limits.

The wide variety of special materials of increasing complexity is used to direct the child’s interests and hasten development, enabling the child to read and write much more quickly that has otherwise been possible.
